The Not So Elaborate Days…

riding toys for boys big wheel cozy coupe

I can feel it slipping – these days of sunshine and simplicity.

Days of neglecting some of the to-do’s for the gifts in front of me…

Days of constant noise and chatter…

Days of make believe, laughter, togetherness, and play…

Days of childhood that can be cherished a little longer…

It’s fleeting at an unstoppable speed.

So today there will be things that get neglected in order to soak more of THIS in.  There is a blanket in the sunshine that has our names on it this afternoon for reading.  We’ll sit outside for our meal so that clean-up is quicker.  Chaos will be responded to with calmness (at least that’s the goal). And we’ll pick easy over complicated.

Today we’ll choose to live seeing life not as an emergency, but as a gift.

And at the end of the day I doubt one of them will ask me why I didn’t get around to folding the last load of laundry, or emptying the dishwasher, or answering emails…

It may not be elaborate, but it’s a day we are going to embrace and live.

Alive, Alive, Alive Forever More!

easter family picture

We had a wonderful Easter weekend with family and our church. We went to an annual Pancake Breakfast at The Beef House on Friday and spent time with my family, then attended a “Secret Church” simulcast with David Platt on suffering Friday night at our church. Sunday we headed to the early service, a breakfast with our church family, and then our Easter service with Brad’s family.  We enjoyed a meal with them, and then even enjoyed an afternoon date to the Indianapolis Art Museum Gardens. We ended our full weekend with a flashlight egg hunt with our next door neighbors.

I hope you had a great time celebrating the miracle of Easter with your family as well!  Every Easter means more to me, and leaves me even more grateful for the cross and the resurrection.

The boys sang at our service Sunday, and I thought you might want to see it  -Especially family who couldn’t make it! {Due to copyrights you may need to click on the title to view it on YouTube. }

How did you spend YOUR Easter weekend?

How To Egg Your Neighbor’s House {Easter Style}

One of my quad mama friends Jen, updated her Facebook status about getting ready to “egg” her neighbors with her quads.  I was instantly intrigued and knew we HAD to throw our own “Egg-Stavaganza” in our ‘hood.

So when it started to get dark (which takes forever these days!), we started packing eggs with jelly beans, chocolates, and chewy treats. And then we snuck out in our pajamas to “egg” our neighbor’s yards.  So fun!!!!

We nearly got caught by a neighbor getting ice cream out of her garage fridge, but I assured her there was nothing to see and she giggled back inside.  I’ve received a couple of texts this morning from another neighbor trying to figure out who would have “egged” them!

Good times in the neighborhood! Have YOU ever done anything sneaky to your neighbor’s house? Time to fess up in the comment section!!!!
